OUR FIRST LANGUAGE: DREAMS

"Every character, every situation in your dreams is all about YOU."

We all know that sleeping is vital to the restoration of our physical body, but our dreams provide us with valuable insights into the steps we need to take in our waking life.

What if you could have a direct line of communication to the ultimate creator?

You do! Every single time we go to sleep, our physical body rests, but our spirit essence is still busy, busy, busy! There is a growing school of thought that says that the part of us that never dies - the spirit/soul/essence - explores as our physical bodies are resting. If you've EVER paid attention to your dreams, and know just how WEIRD they can get you're likely to agree.

It is the stance of long time dream interpreter, Michael Sheridan - that your dreams are a message to you. That means each one of our dreams is as unique as we are, and as tailored to our experiences as possible. He says, "dreams our our first language."

In utero we dream, as babies we dream, as children and adults - we still dream. This human experience helps us to forget the nuances of that language, but it's still accessible to you.

How do you make sense of it?

The great thing about dream interpretation is that it's a language your soul really does understand - even if your mind has forgotten the words. Once you start trying to relearn the language - it will come back quickly. The first step into deciphering your dreams is to make an intention to remember the details of your dreams. Even by just stating (in your head or out loud), I want to remember my dream tonight. Or, I want to know more about how to approach X part of my life right before you go to sleep - you'll be surprised how easy it is to remember.

Step 1:
Set your intention for remembering and understanding your dreams. Do this however you see fit, but do not skip this.

Step 2:
Writing your dreams down as soon as you wake is critical. We all know that if you don't make an effort to recall the details - they disappear. So, put a pad of paper, and something to write with (or use a phone if you don't get distracted) and jot down anything that comes to mind when you wake.

I personally find that if I jot down the key phrases that's enough. Then, after I've fully waked, I can go back in and make comprehensible statements. Also, I find that I tend to jot down the dream, almost in reverse chronology, but that's ok. When I go back and fix the sleep writing I remember the correct order and fix it easily.

The last tip I have is extremely important. As you write down what you recall, especially when you're still half asleep or groggy... ask yourself, "Is this the right word?" and "Did I get that right?" - wait for an answer. You are particularly open because you're still sleepy and that crafty, sharp mind won't get in the way as much. So, whatever answer you get - heed it. If it says change a word, change it. If it says, "Yes, it's right." then leave it alone.

Step 3:

Reflect on the dream. From a different standpoint - with no pressure on yourself - ask, "What was this dream telling me?' and again, listen to your first response. If you get very heady, argumentative or find yourself bantering in your mind, reset. RELAX, ASK, LISTEN.

There are some rules.

There are a few rules to dream interpretation - and the most important one is often the toughest.

Every character, every situation is all about YOU. It's not telling you someone else will or won't do something. It's not forecasting the future (most often). Your dreams present to you: your beliefs, where you need to grow and what are the next steps to move forward.

Start there.

Just like humans, pets also trap emotions. Releasing these energies can significantly reduce physical and behavioral issues.
